Present Day

"In the Beginning"

The opportunity to learn to throw pots in my lunch hour at school was a life line to an otherwise very ordinary existence at my comprehensive school Ravensbourne Boys in Bromley. Initial enthusiasm was sparked by an inspired art faculty head MR R WIllis. Over the next few terms, whilst in my forth year, that inspiration became imbedded in me and, before the year was out, I had made the throwing room my domain. This led to studying ceramics and art to both 'O' and' 'A' levels and despite average grades my confidence had grown. By the time I left school in 1984, having been awarded an Art prize for my efforts in ceramics, the offer of a place to further my skills at the respected Dartington Pottery Training Workshop seemed a natural course.

These are a few pictures taken at school and at home in my first pottery. Click an image to start slideshow.

It seems too early for a complete retrospective I've decided, so I'll leave it here for now.

Portugal

In 2005 Rob moved to the Alto Alentejo in Portugal. Click an image to start slideshow.
